Privacy Policy
We take your privacy extremely seriously. We have never shared your personal data with any other body and we never will.
If you sign up for our e-newsletter, then we will collect and store your name and email address, and (if you choose to give it) the relevant organisation to which you belong. We will then use this information for the purpose you gave it to us – to email you news and information connected to the the future of historic religious buildings, selecting the material we send you in good faith to be relevant and interesting. Obviously our news items will include events (such as conferences) and resources (such as books) for which there might be a charge. We do not receive payment for insertions in the newsletter. As you would expect, we mention our own events, and from time to time we suggest that readers of the newsletter might want to become members of HRBA.
The e-newsletter is free and we intend it will always remain so. Important financial support comes from sponsorship, and the sponsor is given a short editorial slot in the newsletter to let you know of matters you might find of interest. This section of the newsletter is clearly flagged. We do not, of course, pass your personal details on to our sponsor.
We use a third party supplier to provide emailing services. This is currently Mailchimp, a market leader in the field. Mailchimp state that their handling of data is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (see here). Mailchimp’s privacy policy can be found here.
We carry out various processing on your personal data where we have a legitimate interest. For example, we routinely count how many people have signed up for the newsletter, and assess what type of organisation they belong to.
If you or your organisation decides to become a subscribing member – that is, pay us a subscription to become a member of HRBA – then we will also collect a physical address, and communicate with you about payment methods. We use this data to communicate with you regarding membership matters and to help with the administration of HRBA. We do not, of course, pass it on to others.
We (the HRBA, an independently funded part of the Heritage Alliance) are the Data Controller for your data. We hope it goes without saying that it is our intention to abide by the General Data Protection Regulation. If there are any queries about our privacy policy, or you wish us to take particular action with regard to your personal information, then please do not hesitate to contact us at hrb@theheritagealliance.org.uk.
